Jeddah, 5 December 2018
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al Othaimeen, expressed the OIC’s deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the call it has launched to convene a meeting of the OIC Permanent Representatives to discuss the Israeli Racist Law tagged as the “Nation State of the Jewish People” and its effect on political and historical rights of the Palestinian people.
The Secretary General noted in his inaugural speech at the said meeting, which was held on 5th December 2018, that the invitation initiated by the Saudi Arabia reaffirms that “the cause of Palestine and Al Quds Al Sharif occupies forefront position among the KSA’s concerns and political initiatives under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, HRH Prince Mohamed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz. It is also an extension of the Kingdom’s diligent efforts and contributions towards the achievement of the OIC’s objectives and the concretization of the OIC Member States’ collective commitment to defend the Palestinian people’s rights and support their just cause”.
Al Othaimeen further stressed that what has been presented as the nationality law for the Jewish people forms an extension and consecration of the Israeli colonialist mindset and an attempt to legitimize the occupation policies founded on Judaization, ethnic cleansing and denial of the Palestinian people’s existence, their identity and their legitimate rights.
The Secretary General urged the international community and the Human Rights Council to step up their efforts in favor of concrete stands and measures including the initiation of investigations into these Israeli racist laws. He also demanded that the UN Commission for the Eradication of Racism be reactivated to bring Israel to account as an occupation power that has multiple violations on its record.
The Secretary General affirmed that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will keep up its efforts through co-sponsoring of international activities aimed at exposing these Israeli racist laws to the world public opinion and at ensuring that Israeli occupation power be legally pursued for its crimes and racist policies and laws.
