OIC Holds a Symposium on Measures and Indicators for the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals from a Family Perspective

Jeddah, 8 December 2018

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (Family Affairs Council) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will hold a symposium on the measures and indicators for the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from a family perspective in the OIC Member States on 10-11 December 2018 in Jeddah.

The symposium aims primarily to prepare a joint paper on the specific measures that the OIC and its Member States should take in the area of ​​family empowerment and the development of related indicators within the framework of their respective efforts to achieve SDGs from a family perspective.

The symposium will include presentations by the OIC Member States, institutions, and organs.

In addition to the OIC General Secretariat, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, and the Family Affairs Council, the participants will include experts from Member States and the Ministerial Committee of the First Ministerial Conference on the Family and Marriage Institution. The representatives of the OIC relevant organs and institutions, such as ISESCO, IDB, SESRIC, IIFA, IRCICA, ICCIA, ICDT, IIUM, ISF, the IBU, and UNA will also attend the symposium along with representatives of some partner organizations, such as the Arab Family Organization, League of Arab States, African Union, and Gulf Cooperation Council.
