OIC Holds Bilateral Consultations at UK Foreign Office

On the sidelines of the OIC Workshop on Muslims in the United Kingdom, a series of bilateral consultation meetings were held at the Foreign Office in London on the situation of Muslim communities in South and Southeast Asia. The OIC delegation led by Dr. Hassan Abdin, Head of the Muslim Minorities and Communities Department met with Mark Binnington, Head of East Asia Dept., Alice Truman, Head of Burma Unit, South East Asia and Pacific Dept., Andrew Plummer, Philippines and Malaysian Desk, South East Asia and Pacific Dept., and Helen Flewker, Head of Gulf Team.

Discussions focused on strengthening OIC-UK cooperation on a range of issues of mutual concern, particularly the plight of the Rohingya of Myanmar. These meetings were organized in coordination with the UK Special Envoy to the OIC, Seif Usher, in the context of the bilateral Framework Agreement that was signed between the United Kingdom and the OIC in 2012.
