OIC Approves 49 Development and Educational Projects

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), represented by the Islamic Solidarity Fund, has approved financial assistance for development and education projects for implementation in some Member States from March 2018 to mid-November 2018 with a total amount of US $ 3.070.000.

The OIC Secretary General, Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen affirmed that "the approved assistance falls in the framework of the implementation of the resolution of the 60th session of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund of the OIC, which expresses the solidarity of the Organization and its support to the efforts that aim at achieving sustainable and inclusive human development and economic well-being for OIC citizens” The Secretary General said that the OIC is working on everything that serves Muslims worldwide in those sectors, and develops their abilities in social, economic, educational and cultural fields."

The Secretary General indicated that the past six months have witnessed the delivery of 49 projects covering the educational, health, social and university sectors. This assistance concerns six universities, 13 projects for the African Group and 30 projects for the Arab Group, including 25 development and education projects for Palestine.

Al-Othaimeen confirmed that specialized teams from the Islamic Solidarity Fund conducted ground visits to these projects in order to ensure their implementation.
