On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, through its Representative Office in Ramallah, held a political seminar entitled "Racism of Israeli Laws", in which a number of Palestinian politicians and researchers spoke.
The statement of the Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, was delivered on his behalf by Ambassador Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, Director of the OIC Representative Office in Ramallah. He said that the OIC continues to monitor the grave racist laws issued by Israel, the occupying power. The promulgation of these laws, in particular the law of nationalism, perpetuates apartheid and unveils the deceit of Israel.
He added that the document issued by an Israeli legislative organ reveals the truth of this entity as a racist entity that discriminates against Palestinian citizens. He pointed out that this law has legitimized exclusion, racism and inherent discrimination, and highlighted the main elements of apartheid, such as separation of housing and the establishment of two separate tracks of citizenship based on ethnic and religious identity.
The Secretary-General stressed that the two-state solution, supported by the Islamic world and the international community, is at stake with such racist laws.
The seminar was attended by the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, the Israeli Knesset Member from the Arab List, Aida Touma, the researcher at the Palestinian Center for Israeli Studies (MADAR), Barhoum Ghraisi, and the Director General of the Palestinian Independent Commission for Human Rights Ammar Dweik.
