The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen met with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS), Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at LAS headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday, 14 August 2018. The two sides discussed a number of issues of common interest, chief of which is the Palestinian cause, particularly the unfortunate events in Gaza and the Israeli occupation’s killing of Palestinians.
The two sides also discussed support of UNRWA and the establishment of a Waqf (trust fund) to help it continue its activities and the issue of Palestinian reconciliation. On the other hand, Al-Othaimeen and Aboul Gheit deliberated on the situation in the region, especially Yemen, and support for the legitimate government and for Iraq after the elections.
