Meeting of the Women Advisory Council of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States Convenes

The Women Advisory Council of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States held its second meeting on 18 December 2017 at the General Secretariat of the OIC in Jeddah under the chairmanship of its chairperson, Dr Isra Al-Bayrak. The meeting also had in attendance H.E. Fatima Betul Sayan Kaya, Minister of Family and Social Policy of the Republic of Turkey, chair of the 6th session of the Ministerial Conference on Women.

The chairperson of the Council delivered an opening statement in which she referred to the efforts of the Council in following up the implementation of the outcomes of the Council’s first meeting, held in Istanbul on 18 May 2017 and the resolutions of the 6th session of the Ministerial Conference. The Turkish minister also delivered a statement in which she explained her vision and her expectations from the efforts of the Council. She outlined the efforts made by Turkey in the implementation of the resolutions of the 6th ministerial conference.

The meeting discussed the preparations for the 7th session of the ministerial conference and the initiative of Turkey as the current chair of the Ministerial Conference on the Role of Women in the Development of OIC Member States to hold a meeting on the margin of the meetings of the Commission on Women in New York in March 2018 to discuss the consequences of migration and asylum on women in the OIC Member States.
