The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack against a mosque in the North-eastern Nigerian town of Mubi, which killed fifty people and injured scores of others.
The Secretary-General of the Organization, Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen expressed deep condemnation and shock at this criminal act that targeted innocent worshipers in a mosque. He stressed the need to join local, regional and international efforts to eradicate terrorism and extremism and eliminate all their forms, as they constitute a threat to international peace and security. He reaffirmed the OIC’s principled position that strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of the Republic of Nigeria, wishing the wounded prompt recovery and reiterating the OIC’s solidarity with Nigeria in its fight against terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability in Nigeria in particular and the region as a whole.
