OIC Secretary General offers condolences to Indonesia over ferry and plane accidents

The Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has sent a message of condolence to the people of Indonesia over the passenger ship tragedy in the sea of Java on 29th December 2006 and the plane crash on 1st January 2007. In a letter addressed to the Indonesian President, Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed profound sadness over the two separate incidents which claimed hundreds of precious lives while many others are still missing. He conveyed on behalf of the Organisation and on his own behalf to the President, Government and people of Indonesia as well as to the families of the victims, his heartfelt sympathy. The OIC Secretary General further prayed to the Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the deceased and quick recovery to the injured while hoping that those missing would be found alive. He also beseeched God to prevent any reoccurrence of such tragedies.
