The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the deadly shooting of people which took place in Istanbul, Turkey, in the early hours of today, 1st January 2017 that resulted to the killing of at least 39 people and wounding many more others.
The Secretary General, who was shocked by the incident, expressed the solidarity and support of the OIC Member States to the efforts Government of the Republic of Turkey to stamp out terrorism, and extended his condolences to the Turkish government and to the families of the victims over this tragedy.
The Secretary General further reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
