OIC Condemns Terrorist Suicide Bombing of Al-Ahsa Mosque

Date: 29/01/2016

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the suicide bombing on Friday, 29 January 2016 at Al-Reda Mosque, Mahasen District, Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, which killed 4 and injured 18 others. The Secretary General of the OIC, Iyad Ameen Madani condemned this terrorist act whose perpetrators proved their recklessness and disrespect of the principles of Islam and the lives of innocent worshipers. Madani expressed his sincere condolences to the relatives of the dead and to the Saudi government. He praised the efforts of the security personnel who managed to prevent two suicide bombers from entering the mosque during Friday prayers as they intercepted them before entering; one of them blew himself up at the entrance while the security officers exchanged fire with the other and arrested him. Madani reiterated the principled position of the OIC against all forms of terrorism and extremism, which have become a major threat to all Member States and international peace and security. He called again for the need for concerted international efforts to address the phenomenon of terrorism and violent extremism in all possible ways.
