The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani, will be traveling to Australia on Saturday, 30 January 2016, on an official visit where he is expected to meet the Prime Minister, several ministers and province governors as well as the Australian Special Envoy to the OIC. The Secretary General, and his accompanying delegation, will also be attending an event at the Islamic Museum of Australia in Melbourne, which is the only Islamic museum in Australia. The OIC had attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the museum in 2012, which was later inaugurated in March 2014. Madani will also speak at Melbourne University at the Arab and Islamic Studies center. Accompanying the Secretary General on this visit is Dr. Abdusalam Abadi, Secretary of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, and senior officials from OIC General Secretariat.
