The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed hope that "Geneva 3" Conference on Syria to be held tomorrow, Friday, 29 January 2016 would lead to constructive and positive results that contribute to the settlement of the Syrian crisis whose serious repercussions have cast a shadow on Syria and the region as a whole. The OIC hopes that these talks would lead to the agreement between the parties concerned on ceasefire and commencing a serious political process. This process would aim at forming a transitional authority in Syria and holding elections in accordance with "Geneva 1" Conference resolution and in line with the results of the Vienna meetings held at the level of Foreign Ministers, the meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) held in New York in December 2015 and SC Resolution No. 2254 held on 18 December 2015. The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, reiterated the OIC readiness to contribute to the ISSG positive efforts to ensure the realization of the political transition and the preservation of the Syrian State institutions towards maintaining the unity of the Syrian territory that would respond to the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people in change, political participation and justice, end the suffering of the Syrians, and overcome the tragic and bloody situation through which Syria has been wading.
