The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Iyad Ameen Madani, has strongly condemned the bombing attack by elements suspected to be members of the terrorist group in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and the city of Bagouba in Diyali governorate on Monday, 11 January 2016, leading to the death and wounding of dozens of people. He expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished quick recovery to the injured. Madani who denounced these terrorist acts that aim to destabilize Iraq’s internal security, has also stressed the commitment of OIC, in line with the "Makkah 2" initiative, to support the Iraqi national reconciliation to be in conjunction with the Iraqi armed forces’ victory over the terrorist group Daesh towards freeing all Iraqi territories. The Secretary General also reiterated the full support of OIC for the unity of Iraq’s territories and its people and to maintain its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. The Secretary General furthermore reiterated the Organization's commitment to support the Member States in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, cooperation and solidarity with all the efforts to eradicate this scourge and its causes.
