OIC Secretary General Condemns the Explosion in Istanbul, Turkey

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani, has condemned the deadly explosion detonated today, 12thJanuary 2016, in the Sultanahmet District of Istanbul, Republic of Turkey that resulted in the killing of at least 10 people and wounding scores of others; describing it as an act of terror. The Secretary General expressed his confidence that the perpetrators of such senseless brutality will be found, tried and persecuted for their crimes. Mr. Madani extended his condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Turkey as well as to the families of the victims over this tragedy and stated the support of the OIC to the efforts of the Turkish government in its efforts in fighting terrorism. He further reiterated the principled position of the OIC that vigorously denounces all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all forms and manifestations, just as it categorically rejects any justifications for terrorism.
