The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed support for the agreement signed by the Libyan parties in Skhirat, Kingdom of Morocco, to form a government of national unity under the auspices of the United Nations on December 17, 2015. The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, welcomed the agreement of the Libyan parties, expressing the hope that this would contribute to security and stability in Libya and re-building the constitutional institutions based on the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Libya. Madani also praised the efforts of the United Nations and the Kingdom of Morocco, which made it possible to reach a national unity government agreement in Libya. Madani stressed the need for all Libyan parties to join the agreement, calling all stakeholders to apply its provisions towards the unification of efforts to combat the threat of terrorism and support reconstruction and sustainable development in the country.
