OIC condemns terrorist attacks on a market in Chad

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the triple suicide bomb attacks on 5 December 2015 on a market place on the Chadian island of Loulou Fou in which twenty seven persons were killed and over eighty injured. The Secretary General, Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani described the attacks, attributed to the Boko Haram extremist group which continues to target markets and other public places, as a reprehensible act of terror. He called for an end to such heinous acts of brutality against innocent people and reaffirmed the OIC's full solidarity with the authorities in Chad and countries in the Lake Chad region in their collective efforts under the Multinational Joint Task Force to combat and defeat the violent group. Mr. Madani also emphasized the need to confront the multifaceted dimensions of the Boko Haram phenomenon. The Secretary General conveyed his deep sympathy and condolences to the government and people of Chad as well as to the families of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.
