OIC Secretary General meets EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Signs MOU between OIC and EU

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani held a bilateral meeting with H.E Ms. Federica Mogherini, the European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy on Sunday, 27 September 2015, in New York on the sidelines of the UNGA. The two sides discussed issues of mutual concern, at the top of which are developments in Palestine, Syria and the Rohingya in Myanmar. During the meeting the two sides discussed bilateral cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) - Mr. Madani for the General Secretariat of the OIC and Ms. Mogherini for the European External Action Service (EEAS) - to support and strengthen their relations and enhance their dialogue in order to achieve common goals and objectives in areas of mutual understanding. Through regular consultations and meetings, the two sides will endeavor to enhance their dialogue and cooperation with a view to increasing their mutual understanding on political and security matters, working jointly in various fields, and identifying the challenges, shared goals and potential actions in areas of common interest.
