The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed condemnation of all violent acts in Syria which recently took the form of explosions in Damascus and continuous bloodshed witnessed in Syrian cities. The OIC reiterated its call for the Syrian crisis to be resolved through dialogue, for the reforms promised by the Syrian leadership to be implemented in order to meet the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people, and for security and stability to return to Syria....

The OIC delegation, currently on a visit to the Philippines, considered Cagayan de Oro and Iligan as the two cities most affected by Washi storm which hit the South of the country. On Tuesday 27 December 2011, the delegation visited the southern city of Cagayan de Oro to take stock of the conditions of its inhabitants in the aftermath of the storm which caused massive floods claiming the lives of hundreds of people, leaving nearly one million others homeless, and inflicting huge destruction on the region. The delegation interacted with affected people and met with the local authorities and with UN representatives visiting Mindanao region....

On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the Tsunami, one of the worst natural disasters in modern history, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) reiterated their thanks to all the OIC member States and the philanthropists from the Islamic world who participated actively in the OIC Coalition to Rescue Children Victims of Tsunami. They expressed special thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for his generous sponsorship of the project which demonstrated his gracious humanistic spirit and his special interest in the affairs of vulnerable Muslims around the globe....
