Following a Field Tour by OIC Delegation to Take Stock of the Conditions of Affected People in Mindanao, OIC Declares Cagayan de Oro and Iligan as the Cities Most Affected by Washi.

The OIC delegation, currently on a visit to the Philippines, considered Cagayan de Oro and Iligan as the two cities most affected by Washi storm which hit the South of the country. On Tuesday 27 December 2011, the delegation visited the southern city of Cagayan de Oro to take stock of the conditions of its inhabitants in the aftermath of the storm which caused massive floods claiming the lives of hundreds of people, leaving nearly one million others homeless, and inflicting huge destruction on the region. The delegation interacted with affected people and met with the local authorities and with UN representatives visiting Mindanao region....
