 OIC Secretary General Congratulates Qatar on the Launch of Mushaf Qatar (Qatari Print of the Qur’an)

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, on Tuesday 9 March 2010, attended the launching ceremony of the Qatari-print of the Qur’an held at the Islamic Arts Museum in Doha, under the patronage of the Qatari Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Secretary General saluted the State of Qatar over the Mushaf which brought ten years of work to fruition. In a speech delivered at the occasion, Ihsanoglu thanked all those behind the achievement, particularly the Qatari side for its prominent role of support and encouragement. He also thanked the Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), the staff of the Centre and the calligrapher, Ubayda Muhammad Salah Al Banki, who wrote the Qur’an by hand.
The Secretary General also lauded the artists who took part in designing the Mushaf ornamentation as well as the printers who produced a perfect print of the Mushaf. He underscored that the Qatari-print of the Qur’an would remain a testimony that the Islamic civilization is evolutionary and that the eternal Book of Allah will always command the attention and care of the Ummah and its leaders.
