The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed its deep regret and profound sorrow at the loss of dozens of innocent civilian lives in the air-raids on Mosul where a complex war is unfolding inside the residential districts of the city’s western section.
The OIC called upon all the concerned parties to be cautious and careful in their military undertakings and to observe the Geneva IV agreement which command protection for civilians in times of war.
The OIC also expressed its deep condolences to the Iraqi Government and people and to the families of the victims along with its best wishes for prompt recovery to the injured and its genuine hope to see the ordeal endured by Iraq to an end so that the country may preserve its unity and territorial sovereignty.
Likewise, the OIC condemned the practice of using civilians as shields and laid stress at the same time on its principled stand in rejecting terrorism in all its forms, whatever its source.
